Delivering Hands-On Customer Solutions with Real Cost Savings

Today, companies are closely watching every dollar that comes in an out. So it’s no surprise that the deciding factor for most companies when implementing document management solutions comes down to price. We work directly with our clients to provide cost savings on a complete document management services solution that’s perfectly fit to their business needs.

For example, a company may want to upgrade their current print, scanning and color capabilities while lowering their overall operating costs. They may also be interested in reducing printing to laser printers without hurting their existing office culture, and increasing efficiency overall. Our consultants listen closely to what each of our clients need, and provide different solutions that demonstrate a drastic return on investment – streamlining equipment and operations wherever possible.

We recently celebrated a successful third year landmark with one of our top clients, which now boasts more than 450 printers removed, and a savings of $150,000 per year. At BMI+ImageNet, our greatest success comes from our strong client partnerships that ultimately help companies save time and money.

December 20, 2010 // Document Management, Document Workflow, Managed Print Services, Software Solutions

Document Workflow

Many people mistakenly confuse document management merely for the ability to scan and archive documents for later retrieval. Although that represents one small part, a quality document management system should include the former along with a fully automated process for streamlining workflow as well.

Virtually every business department requires the ability to easily review documents. Some departments – like Accounts Payable and Receiving—can be automated in order to avoid misplacement of physical documents. Automating one process or department at a time is the best way to implement a new document workflow process, because most companies lack the manpower to manage simultaneous implementation. Once a company has operated an automated document management system for at least six months, they will begin to see the enormous value and benefits.

In a typical office environment, once a document is created, it becomes the first highly wasteful part of the document workflow process. Many forms of printing take place, at tremendous cost to a company. Analysis has revealed that somewhere between one and six percent of a company’s top line revenue is spent on printing in its various forms. Outside of payroll, it can comprise one of the largest expense line items.

Most companies produce short run or convenience printing on one of three types of devices—local printers, single function laser printers, or multi-function or “all in one” printers. A managed print provider like BMI+ImageNet can improve the process of printing by helping oversee the use of all printers within the business.

Regular reports and recommendations can also be made on ways the company can eliminate or move prints to lower cost devices without causing hardships on employees. As a document management services provider, BMI+ImageNet will continually strive to improve processes and workflow within your office environment. For more tips on how your business can better manage document workflow through our services, visit www.bmisystems.com.

December 13, 2010 // First party leasing, Used equipment

First Party Leasing and Used Equipment

Companies have the choice to finance used equipment as a means to help offset the potentially high costs of new equipment, especially small businesses or companies in transition. Used equipment can certainly help reduce a company’s monthly finance costs, but may actually result in more in monthly service costs.

As a true in-house first party financing source, BMI+ImageNet is able to run service histories on used equipment, find out how long it has been in the field, see what parts have been required to keep equipment running and how much volume the equipment has run. Third-party financing companies are not able to determine the history of used equipment, and as a result are not able to anticipate potential equipment failures. Because we are able to finance and service equipment, we take special care to ensure that the equipment a company finances is performing to the highest standards.

In the long run, first party leasing with BMI+ImageNet helps save our customers money, and allows them to work greener.

Wide Format Ink-Jet Printing

Wide Format Ink-Jet Printing

The future of wide format print technology has never looked brighter. The broad range of wide format print applications and affordability of ownership are presenting possibilities to a new set of users. Enhanced print quality, print durability, increased production speeds and eco-friendly solutions all translate to huge benefits for clients interested in integrating wide format inkjet technology into their daily workflow.

QUALITY IS KEY

Quality is a key factor in the world of wide format printing. Advances in ink formulation, media coating and software solutions are delivering previously unimaginable quality for the  entire spectrum of wide format printing professionals. Photographers, sign makers, architects, GIS professionals and corporate users can reap the benefits of great new wide format technologies.

HP Vivera inks have 72.9 million brilliant colors. Combined with quality media solutions, the rich Vivera inks can resist fading up to 108 years while maintaining water resistance and print handling durability. Canon’s LUCIA ink is specially formulated to reduce graininess and bronzing and resist scratching and fading. Black, Matte Black, Gray and Photo Gray optimize black ink density for exceptional monochrome photo-quality output. Based on the type of media used, the iPF8100 printer chooses the black ink that achieves the best print results.

SPEED

Wide format users require quick turn around for their quality prints, and print speeds have never been faster in the inkjet worlds. Engineering, architecture and GIS professionals can now see size D prints (24”x36”) produced in as little as 45 seconds. Photography, proofing and marketing professionals can receive high quality, color-rich size D prints in less than 5 minutes. These amazing print speeds occur without sacrificing quality or permanence.

BE SMART…GO GREEN

Perhaps the most exciting developments in the wide format world relate to our increasingly environmentally-conscious society. Eco-friendly ink technology, recycled media options and recycling efforts balance environmental responsibility with low cost wide format printing more easily than ever before.

The new latex print technology from HP helps clients distinguish their business and attract new environmentally focused customers by offering a complete solution—including water-based HP Latex Inks and HP recyclable media that helps reduce the impact of printing on the environment. The HP Designjet latex printer L25500 makes post-print production easy with prints that come off the printer dry and ready for lamination, packaging, shipping, and display. This HP Designjet meets strict energy efficiency guidelines and helps keep costs down without the need for an external dryer or special ventilation equipment.

To address recycling, HP has developed the HP Planet Partners Recycling Program. The program has expanded to include recyclable HP graphics and technical media from sign and banner materials to films and backlit materials. HP’s state-of-the-art processes ensure that the plastics used in these printing materials get recycled in a way that conserves resources.

For our part, Digital Media Warehouse can assist with our ink cartridge recycling program. Select wide format ink cartridges can be returned (free of shipping expense) in exchange for cash or product credit. The end result is a fully warranted reusable print cartridge with all the same benefits of OEM ink cartridges, at a fraction of OEM costs. By participating in our ink recycling program, clients benefit not only the environment, but their bottom line as well.

December 1, 2010 // Eco-Friendly Tips, Managed Print Services, Recycling

Where Does Your Toner Go?

Every year Americans throw out 350 million ink cartridges with a 12 percent annual increase. That is almost 8 cartridges per second! Many don’t realize it, but toner cartridges take 450 years to decompose. Therefore, if Shakespeare had used a printer, his toner cartridges would still be around today!

BMI+ImageNet strives to makes companies leaner and greener and we do this in a variety of ways. One of which is providing a recycling service where we pick up companies’ used cartridges. BMI provides unlimited recycling boxes to clients and then we leave it up to them to do the right thing. Once a box is full, a BMI representative picks up the empty cartridges and brings them back to our facilities to be recycled. Recycling one cartridge saves 3.5 pounds of solid waste and a single cartridge can be reused four times before end-of-life. Watch the short video below to learn more about this process.
